With more than 40 years’ experience in the diamond and gemstone industry, Avi Cohen founded Diamonds and Jewellery Centres of Australia (DJCA) in 2012.
Opening the doors to DJCA was Avi’s love note to the beauty and mystery of nature’s precious gemstones and their power to convey meaning.
At DJCA, our passion is working one-on-one with you to share this wonder and tell your story through ethically sourced stones and beautiful, bespoke jewellery design.

Our founder
Avi Cohen
Avi’s knowledge of the diamond and gemstone industry is invaluable.
A creative at heart and a natural storyteller, Avi never misses an opportunity to find and showcase detail for each client. He is guided by the philosophy that “Every piece of jewellery we create has a meaning; every design will be a masterpiece.”
Starting his career as a gem setter and watch repairer on Israel’s Mediterranean coast, Avi spent more than two decades travelling the world as a respected diamond and gemstone merchant.
During this time, Avi perfected his craft and met some of the most influential people in the industry.
In 1985, Avi and his young family moved to Brisbane. It’s here that DJCA was born.
In 2018, the family sailed west to Perth after falling in love with Western Australia’s unique coastal lifestyle.
In the same year – just a stone’s throw from the Indian Ocean and in a beautiful semi-heritage listed studio – Avi welcomed his first customers to DJCA North Beach.
Today he leads the DJCA team as CEO and Creative Director. He is always ready to share his knowledge and expertise, and stories from around the world.
